Binghamton-Johnson City Joint Sewage Treatment Plant (BJCJSTP)
Terminal Pump Station (TPS) Flood Resiliency Project

Project Summary

The BJCJSTP Terminal Pumping Station operates 24 hours per day 7 days per week and provides vital pumping of sanitary flows from Johnson City to the Joint Treatment Plant. Historic flooding has resulted in severe damage to electrical and mechanical equipment as well as in system overflows. Recent damage from 2006 and 2011 has resulted in a FEMA Project Worksheet and subsequent project funding.

The Griffiths Team, including Savin Engineers, designed a flood rehabilitation project as well as flood resiliency modifications for the facility. Work including flood protecting critical equipment and facilities including control panels, pumps, motors, and electrical gear and the installation of an emergency backup generator. Flood proofing included construction of an elevated electrical platform and installation of water proof equipment.
